Our ownership transferred from the Ministry of Justice to the privately-owned Seetec Group on 1 February 2015, as part of the government’s probation reforms across England and Wales designed to reduce reoffending and create safer communities for all.
We continue to perform our statutory duty to deliver a range of services to people who have been sentenced by the courts to either custodial or community supervision and who are classed as low to medium risk offenders. The public sector National Probation Service works with high risk offenders.
Further duties were added to our role by the Offender Rehabilitation Act 2014, as follows:
- At least 12 months of probation supervision after release of anyone committed to a custodial term of at least one day
- Services for a new court order called the Rehabilitation Activity Requirement that can be imposed on anyone serving a community sentence.
We deliver rehabilitation services that help people who have committed crimes to help themselves; so they can aspire, achieve and make sustainable changes to their lives.
We are here to reduce reoffending and help keep safe the communities in which we operate.
We believe a person can stop reoffending if they accept responsibility for their actions and the support we offer to make change happen.
My Solution Rehabilitation Programme puts the person at the heart of their own rehabilitation: ‘my problem, my solution’.
Each time we meet with a service user, they are one step closer to a crime-free life.
